Pharmacist
Name: Anna Hatcher Aubrey
Age: 25
Hometown: Montgomery, AL
Career
I currently work as a Pharmacist at Winn Dixie Pharmacy in Mobile, Alabama. My responsibilities include dispensing medications, communicating with providers, checking drug interactions, patient counseling, medication therapy management, and immunizations. The best part of my job is definitely interacting with my patients. Most come in at least once a month and it has been so great to get to know and build relationships with all of them. The most surprising part of entering the workforce as a pharmacist was the realization of the responsibility I have while on the job. When I am the pharmacist on duty, I am the one responsible. That is scary coming out of school as a new grad. I just remind myself that this is what 8 years of school and 9 years working in a pharmacy have prepared me for, and I am fully capable of being the best pharmacist I can be.
Education
I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. I will always consider the four years spent at Faulkner the best years of my life. I met my forever friends who were and still remain a constant encouragement to me in all aspects of life. This was also the place I met my amazing and supportive husband, Jordan. After graduation, I went on to attend Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. I graduated in May 2021 with my Doctor of Pharmacy. I was blessed to attend both Auburn’s campus and the satellite campus in Mobile for pharmacy school. Auburn challenged me and helped me become the woman I am today. War Eagle!
Growing up
I always knew I wanted to do something in the health field. For the longest time, I wanted to be an orthodontist until I got my first job at Adam’s Drugs in Montgomery when I was 17. From then on, I knew I wanted to be a pharmacist. The first pharmacist I worked for, Stephanie Pugh, really took me under her wing and taught me all there was to know about pharmacy. She encouraged me to get my technician license in college and pursue pharmacy school.
Secret to Success
My relationship with God has been the only reason I am where I am today. Leaning on him and our relationship has gotten me through times when I just thought about giving up. If you find something you are passionate about, stick with it! Don’t let the amount of school or hard work keep you from reaching your goals. Eight years of school seemed so daunting to me when I was a fresh high school grad, but it has flown by. I took it one year at a time and kept focusing on the goal of one day being Dr. Aubrey...and through the goodness of God, I finally achieved it!
Advice for Teens
You really don’t know everything at 16 (16-year-old me would’ve hated to hear this!) Listen to your parents and mentors. They know a thing or two about life!
Advice for Parents
Trust your kids and their passions. They may not have the same talents and gifts that you do and that's okay! Embrace their gifts and encourage them every step of the way!

Fun Fact
My one and only claim to fame is that my uncle is a costume designer and worked on the Hannah Montana movie. My family and I were able to be extras in the final scene. Pretty sure you can’t see us, but I sure felt famous for a day!
