her story: At ACA, Tia is all about the music. She is a member of several music organizations, including concert chorus, chamber choir, and the percussion ensemble. She is also a part of ACA’s marching, concert, and jazz bands. It’s no surprise that she wants to be a professional musician in the future. She shared, “I would love to make and produce my own music and perform it for the world.” In all that she does, music-related or not, Tia wants to be remembered as someone who never gave up. When asked to share who has inspired her the most so far in life, Tia responded, “My grandfather. He loved the Lord and his family, and he was determined and strong in whatever he did. He always put others needs before his own, and did it with a smile on his face. When he passed away, people at his funeral told me how much he loved me, and told stories of the happiness he brought to others. The one thing he always taught me about hard times was to keep my head on my shoulders.”
what’s next: “I want to be a professional musician. My dream college is Berklee College of Music, and I want to go for vocal performance.”
PG (parental guidance) rating: “My family is very connected, on both sides. If one member needs something, everyone will be there to help them without missing a beat. We can all count on each other without a doubt.”
parents’ perspective: Stan shared, “Tia’s courage, drive, and determination are what I admire most. Tia is a singer and guitarist, and no matter how big the crowd is, it is never too big for her.” Bonnee added, “I admire Tia’s servant heart and strong work ethic. She is quick to volunteer to serve in any capacity.”
parent-to-parent: “Be a parent first and a friend second. Keep communicating the message they need to hear, even if you think they aren’t listening.”
