her story

Selina shared that her favorite thing about attending Saint James is, “Whether you’re interested in music, sports, or STEM, there is an activity and/or organization for you.” At Saint James, Selina serves as a student ambassador, a peer tutor for the writing center, a peer leader, a member of the Math Competition Team and Math Club, and the president of Mu Alpha Theta. She is also a member of the choir and an a cappella group. She received a spot as a cellist multiple times in the Alabama Orchestra Association All-State Festival.

Selina wants to become a surgeon. She explained, “My interest in the medical field was first sparked when I was six and got sick with a pneumonia-like disease and had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks under precarious conditions. Even now, I still remember being fascinated and curious about what the doctors were doing to treat me.”

Selina shared, “I am proud to say that our family maintains a great work-life balance. We stay focused and on top of things at work or at school, but we equally prioritize vacations, entertainment, and other aspects of personal lives outside of work.”
