her story: At Alabama Christian Academy, Mary Vander is actively involved in the Key Club, Athletic Ambassadors, Pep Club, National Honor Society, varsity track, and varsity volleyball. She shares, “My biggest achievements are winning State for javelin in 2017 and 2018, while still being active at church and in school.” When asked to share her favorite thing about attending ACA, she explained, “ACA provides me with awesome opportunities to pursue my individual interests. The teachers and coaches encourage me spiritually, educationally, athletically.” Outside of school, Mary Vander is involved with the youth group at her church and attends youth camp. She also helps with a toddler class on Sundays, and with VBS each summer. Overall, Mary Vander wants to be remembered as a strong Christian leader, and advises other teens to “make the most of your opportunities, and do your best to follow God through the happy times and the struggles.”
what’s next: “I don’t know exactly what I want to do, but I love being involved with sports and going new places.”
