her story: Lindan is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the varsity basketball team, and the Pride of Tallassee Marching Band at Tallassee High School. She shared, “My favorite part about attending THS is playing basketball and being in the marching band.” In ninth grade, she received the Joe Sewell Memorial Award, an award established to recognize outstanding high school athletes in Elmore County who represent the ideals of Christian leadership. When asked to share her best advice for an entering high school freshman, Lindan answered, “I would advise them to work hard in whatever they are doing and enjoy the short time they are in high school.”
what’s next: “I am undecided on what I want to do for a living, but I have an interest in architecture. I enjoy drawing and sketching different things, and I’ve always enjoyed and been pretty good at.”
PG (parental guidance) rating: Lindan shared, “The best advice I have ever received is what my parents always tell me: Trust God and put Him first in everything.” She added, “One thing about my family that makes me proud is how the importance of music has been handed down. My Papa was the band director at Tallassee High School. My Mom, Dad, and Papa were in the 151st Army Band. My older brothers have been in band. My younger brother and I are currently in band.
parents’ perspective: Tim and Staci explained, “Lindan is not afraid to be her own person. She doesn’t feel like she needs to follow the crowd. We also admire how Lindan perseveres to overcome and work through obstacles; she knows what she wants and goes after it.”
parent-to-parent: “It’s okay for children to know parents make mistakes, too. Love your children, teach them that hard work pays off, believe in them, and push them to be the best they can be.“
