Teen Spotlight: Catherine Cowden

her story: Catherine’s passion is ballet. She explains, “Ballet inspires me to reach towards a goal, both in dance itself and everyday life.” As a result of her dedication and passion, Catherine was awarded a full scholarship to attend Danza en Arte Pietrasanta- a 2-week dance festival in Italy where she studied under world-famous choreographers. When she isn’t practicing her dancing, Catherine can be found at Eastwood Christian School, serving as the SGA President, yearbook editor, and Spirit Club Leader. She is also a member of Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Math Club. Catherine plays the guitar, piano, and ukulele, and uses these instruments in leading worship at both her church and her school. When asked to name something about herself that makes her proud, Catherine responded, “I am proud that I am able to juggle school, church, and extracurriculars while still enjoying my life and doing everything to the best of my abilities.”

what’s next: Catherine hopes to become an elementary school teacher in the future. She states, “Growing up, I looked up to all of my teachers. They influenced me so much, and I wanted to be able to influence children the same way. After I began to teach ballet, I knew that I had a passion for teaching children.”
