LAMP also encourages incredible student-teacher relationships that have helped me feel supported and loved throughout high school.” Annabel is the Volleyball Team Captain and Libero, National Honor Society Vice President, Mu Alpha Theta Math Board Committee Head Chairman, and has attended the AHSAA State Volleyball Tournament three years in a row.

what’s next

Annabel shared, “I want to pursue a major in medical humanities to learn about medicine through the perspectives of different disciplines of study. I plan to attend medical school with the hopes of becoming a psychiatrist. I began going on mission trips and I knew that I wanted to be able to help people in need. Healthcare seemed to be lacking most in the people I witnessed.”

PG (parental guidance) rating

When asked what makes her proud, she shared, “Because my parents care so deeply for students and for furthering education in individuals as much as possible, I am proud that they are teachers. I believe that they are the best kind of teachers that everyone deserves to have, and I want the same passion they have for teaching to carry into my own future career.”

parents’ perspective

Annabel’s parents, Jeff and Emily Baker, shared, “Annabel is self-motivated and ambitious but also humble. Annabel pursues her own path without concern for what others may think. She mostly avoids the typical drama of teenage interactions, and has been taught that people who have a problem with you hold the problem, not you.”

parent-to-parent

Jeff and Emily had this advice for other parents: “Do not allow technology to parent or babysit your child, and limit material gifts to the appropriate occasion. Be age appropriate with permissions, communication, and discipline.”
