her story: Alyson shared “My favorite thing about ACA is how service-centered we are, and how our school is always looking for a new service opportunity to put God and others first.” She is a member of the ACA volleyball team and was selected as All-Metro Team Honorable Mention for Volleyball. Something most people don’t know about Alyson is that she was a competitive figure skater for 8 years. Alyson wants to be remembered as somebody who uplifted every room she was in and exemplified Christ.

what’s next: Alyson wants to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse. When asked what drew her to this field, she shared, “From a young age, I have always been interested in the medical field and wanted to be a part of it, and as I’ve gotten older, my love for being around kids has directed me towards pediatrics.”

PG (parental guidance) rating: Alyson shared why her family makes her proud, “My family always has each other’s back and is supportive in the different activities we take part in. My parents have inspired me the most because they are always there to encourage and support me in things I want to accomplish.”

parent-to-parent: Alyson’s parents, Mark and Lisa, shared, “She has a very independent mindset and works very hard to achieve the goals she has set for herself. Whether recovering from injury (torn ACL), maintaining honor roll grades, or becoming the very best at whatever sport or activity she is involved in, she is very self-motivated and determined to succeed. ”

Mark and Lisa had this advice for other parents, “Encourage them to try new things without the fear of failing. Fear is the number one killer of potential. Enable good friendships. Their friend group can be a major influencer on them reaching their potential. But mostly, just be there.”
