quotable: “Be not afraid.”
her story: Carrie doesn’t hesitate to take the lead when it comes to things she cares about. She shares, “I am captain of the varsity cheerleading team, I am on the core team at my youth group, and I am also part of the executive counsel in Spirit Club.” She has been on the varsity softball team since seventh grade, and the varsity cheer team since tenth grade; she recently began playing varsity basketball. She adds, “I was named an All-American cheerleader at cheer camp, and was an All-Metro honorable mention for softball. For both softball and basketball, I have received multiple sportsmanship and coaches awards.” In all that she does, Carrie wants to be remembered as “being a friend, and someone who always uses kind words to make others feel welcome.”
what’s next: Carrie shares, “I want to be a mother and work as an elementary school teacher because I love kids. Ever since I was little, I always admired the thought of being a teacher. Now that I am about to finish high school, I have to start thinking about careers, and teaching is sticking out to me more and more. I have always loved children, and look forward to having a big family of my own. I figured that I can use my love for children in teaching elementary school.”
PG (parental guidance) rating: “My parents are my biggest supporters. I am always super busy, and they are always there to help with no hesitation. Whether it is washing my uniforms the night before I need them, or just giving me advice, they are always reliable.”
parents' perspective: Brian and Pam admire that Carrie “does so much, but she still has a great attitude.” They add, “Carrie has an even temperament that makes her easy to like and get along with. She’s very caring and willing to help any way she can.”
parent-to-parent: “Parents can support their kids by reinforcing the good things about them and the things they do.”
