It was hard for Xavier’s dad Gerald and step-mom Tamara York to choose just one thing they admire most about him. Among the list of attributes they recognize his “relentless work ethic and commitment to God.”
Xavier’s work ethic has allowed him to do exceptionally well in academics. He’s a member of the National Honor Society and National Beta Club at Dallas County High. He’s maintained the highest average in many of his classes, won 1st place in the Science Bowl, and was selected among the top three students at his school to compete together as a team in the ACE competition, which compared test scores of students throughout the region--there his team took placed 3rd.
Gerald and Tam have done their best to encourage Xavier to “know that he can accomplish or be whatever he wants to be no matter what.”
They recognize that with God, nothing is impossible and have learned early on the importance of education. Tam was taught growing up that the “mind is your weapon. No one can take that away from you.”
Gerald and Tam believe it’s important for parents to help their children “find their own dreams and goals.”
